Focus St. LouisFOCUS St. Louis® invites you to be part of a unique regional celebration once again! The 15th annual What’s Right with the Region! (WRWR) awards celebration will recognize success stories from throughout the greater St. Louis region.  We delight in this opportunity to applaud the outstanding accomplishments achieved by those working so hard for the greater good of this region.

On Thursday, May 3, 2012, we expect that over 500 citizens will join us to applaud the outstanding efforts of 20 individuals and organizations. What’s Right with the Region

Everyone who attended last night Focus St. Louis’s What’s Right with the Region 14th Annual Awards Celebration held at the Sheldon Concert Hall knows that there is a lot that is right with the St. Louis region.  The event brought together hundreds of businesses, organizations, and individuals that are committed to making St. Louis a better place to work and live.

The evening kicked off with a cocktail party where you couldn’t turn around without running into someone you know or someone’s who’s name you knew but wanted to meet.  City and county politicians, senior business executives, nonprofit leaders, and dedicated individuals came together to recognize the 20 honorees of the evening.  Those honorees were separated into five categories and included: Read the rest of this entry »


Giving is ON GOING at the Thomas Hullverson Foundation

In 1992, St. Louis attorney Thomas C. Hullverson was moved by the desperation he saw in the1992 Los Angeles riots after the Rodney King trial. In response, he helped create the St. Louis Internship Program (SLIP) as an avenue of hope and direction for youth.

In summer 2011, the St. Louis Internship Program (SLIP) will celebrate 20 years of opening newworlds of opportunity for high school students in financial need who often see very limitedoptions for their futures. Since 1992, over 98% of 3,100 SLIP interns have graduated high schooland pursued their postsecondary goals, most often college or university education.

A national model for community-based internships, SLIP has been replicated in 38 citiesnationwide. In 2001, SLIP received the national Partnering for Workforce Excellence award cosponsoredby the Wall Street Journal and the EMA Foundation. In May 2010, SLIP received a“What’s Right with the Region” award from Focus St. Louis. Read the rest of this entry »
